Brooklyn Botanical Gardens 05-2009 : On Memorial Day Weekend, May 2009, I ventured out to Brooklyn on the subway to go to the Brooklyn Museum, drool upon the artwork, then play at the Botanical Gardens. I was there for the entire day, the weather was perfect and the photos are in order of the visit. Cranford Rose Garden down and around through the children's educational garden, past the pond, and back up by the Japanese Garden. The Gate to the Japanese garden by then had just closed, but the security guard took pity on me and opened the gate back up so I could get better photos. I didn't get out of there until the end of the day. I want to live there. The first shots here are of the mosaics at the Eastern Parkway/Brooklyn Museum subway stop. I contacted MTA about them and they gave me some good resources to learn more about these specific works as well as the Arts For Transit program. http://www.mta.info/mta/aft . There is also the Transit Museum at 130 Livingston Street, 9th Floor -Box E, Brooklyn, NY 11201, (718) 694.1868. They have photos for sale. There is also the Grand Central Station gift store of the New York Transit Museum. Pike Place Market End of Day : September 6, 2006, on the cusp of the Pike Place Market's 100th Anniversary, I took my trusty Nikon and ventured out as things were wrapping up. So from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm, starting from the North end of the upper level market, I made my way to the South entrance by the big sign. No flash. I was going for just an honest, raw, basic experience of what the market is like and to show some appreciation for the hard working people that make the farmers' market what it is for everyone.
